Abstract

The study of the development of continuing professional education at the theoretical and empirical levels during the transformation in our society of the past three decades has enabled us to understand its current state and determine the ways and directions of its development. The article aims to consider the models of interaction between the education system and the production sector, which are to ensure con-
tinuous training, retraining, advanced training and skills enhancement of industrial sector employees at all levels, by analyzing the practice of personnel development at Rosatom State Corporation. To this end, we have employed theoretical and empirical research methods, carried out experimental work, and used statistical methods for processing the results obtained. The research was conducted within the Industry and
Corporate Education research area at the Siberian State University of Railway Transport (SSUPS). A number of factors affecting continuing professional education for industrial sector employees were singled out. A key factor is the broken links between government bodies, industrial enterprises, and educational institutions that used to characterize the relations within the system of the Ministry of Nuclear Industry. An-
other factor is a gap between the quality of vocational (secondary, higher) education and qualification requirements on the part of the industrial sector, which brought in a new system of retraining and development of newly employed staff aimed at bringing their competence up to corporate standards. There was also a need for an effective model that would describe the interaction between industry enterprises and the
education system at all levels. The article describes such a model of interaction developed and implemented between ANO "Siberian Institute of Advanced Training" (SIPK), the institution of further professional education, and nuclear industry enterprises. The results of the study and the recommended practices can be used to develop and improve the continuing professional education of staff in various industries.
